Constructivism

Art out of the museum and into society. Posters, architecture, the stage — Russian Constructivism tried to turn abstract form into a tool society could use. Tatlin's Monument to the Third International, designed from 1919, was a spiraling structure planned to rise 400 meters, taller than the Eiffel Tower. Materials and technology fell short, and only a wooden model was ever built. Even so, photographs of that model traveled around the world. The tower that was never built ended up reaching further than one that was.
