De Stijl

In 1917, in the Netherlands, Mondrian and van Doesburg launched a magazine of the same name, De Stijl. Only vertical and horizontal lines. Only red, blue, yellow, black, and white. They went looking for an order that could still hold together after being cut down this far. It started with painting and spread into furniture and architecture.
